Routine Cleaning

• Remove debris (seeds, crumbs, dust).

• Rinse under warm water.

• Scrub lightly with a clean brush and bird-safe soap, and rinse well.

• Let it fully air-dry in a ventilated area before putting it back.

 

 

Choose ONE of these safe methods:

F10 SC (avian-safe disinfectant)

• Make a diluted solution according to the bottle instructions (usually 1:250).

• Spray or soak the cork for 10–15 minutes.

• Rinse lightly, then dry completely.

Good for: sanitizing without damaging the cork.

 

Vinegar Solution (mild disinfectant)

• Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar + 2 parts warm water.

• Soak or scrub the feeder.

• Rinse well and air-dry fully.

Good for: natural, gentle cleaning.

 

Heat Treatment (for disinfecting and killing mites/bacteria)

• Bake in the oven at 90–95°C (195–205°F) for 30–45 minutes.

• Let cool and dry before use.

⚠️ Important:
Do not use higher heat, cork burns easily. Lower heat for a longer time is safer.

 

Freezing (for insect prevention)

• Place the cork in a sealed bag.

• Freeze for 24–48 hours.

Good for: eliminating insect eggs or mites.

• Soaking for long periods (cork can degrade)
